Brief Historical Prospective and activities of the Trust/Host Institution -
Phaltan Education Society had been established by the then Maharaja of the Phaltan Sansthan Shreemant Malojiraje Mudhojirao Naik Nimbalkar in the year 1951; whereas basic foundation School of the society Mudhoji High school, Phaltan was founded with the aim to provide facilities of education to the rural students of the Phaltan Sansthan in 1893 by Shreemant Mudhojirao Janojirao alias Bapusaheb Naik Nimbalkar.
Agriculture as one of the subjects was introduced for VIIIth standard in 1956 by considering importance of agriculture of this tract.
In the year 1968, Phaltan Education Society had received the Swiss-Aid for developing an infrastructure and buildings of school and hostel in Phaltan. So the classes with agriculture subjects were shifted to the new school named as Malojiraje Sheti Vidyalaya which started functioning from 1970.
Agricultural Subjects (viz. Animal Science & Dairying, Crop Science, Crop Production, and Horticulture) were included in the syllabus for Junior College in 1983.
Horticulture, Crops science and Accountancy subject were included under the scheme M.C.V.C. since 1990 with the help of Central Government.
Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Rahuri had accorded permission to start the Dairy Diploma and Mali Training programme since 1992 and Agricultural Diploma from 1993.
Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik had granted a study Center/Contact center for various Certificate Courses such as Diploma in Agriculture Business Management, Diploma in Agriculture Journalism ,Diploma in Horticulture,B.Sc.(Agri)and B.Sc.(Horti). A literate farmer can get the admission to complete any one or more of the above mentioned courses. Mahatma Phule Agriculture University, Rahuri had granted permission to start Horticulture College from 2003 and Agriculture College from 2009, AICTE also granted permission to start Engineering College from 2011.
Besides these, farmer' rallies, Agricultural Exhibitions, Short term training courses in agriculture are frequently organized with the help of technical staff of the Horticulture and Agricultural College as per need of the local farming community.
